Dandelion and other weeds like chickweed, burnweed, clover, and crabgrass are on the prowl. Just as this is the time of year that lawns green up and start growing, so do these lawn weeds. We want your property to look good and be full of color, just not in your turf areas!

Dandelion and Spring Weeds

As we’re coming off of the drought from the last 18 months, we’re expecting a tougher fight this year controlling lawn weeds. Why? The drought has stressed lawns to the point that they have become thin. Thin turf areas are prone to be taken over by weeds unless new seed is distributed. As we always say, the best way to keep weeds like dandelions out is to keep your turf thick.

As part of our Turf Management Division, we’re completing Round 2 of our lawn care programs targeted at controlling broadleaf weeds like dandelions, clover, and plantain. If you’re lawn is thin like the photo below, you would be able to re-seed the area within a few days of the blanket spray application… or have us perform seeding services.

Unfortunately, if no seeding is done, the freshly sprayed weeds will be eradicated, but new weeds will settle into the area via drift or other means of entry.
